Giving Back

Student Project Africa Network
Terra Soft is proud to support SPAN through design, hosting, and maintenance of the website and active fund raising for SPAN partner organizations in Africa. Kai Staats, CEO of Terra Soft also serves on the Board of Directors of SPAN and is active in his volunteer work in Kenya, having work with Pistis Academy & Orphange August and September of 2007, and then Pistis, the Baobab Branch School, and Morokoshi Nursery & Kingergarten in the spring of 2008.

Student Project Africa Network, founded by Truman Scholar Rebecca Mitchell, offers a conduit between volunteers and Pistis to further the construction of the facilities, improve the foundation for education, and give the children the hope of something beyond their immediate needs.

Terra Soft and Terra Soft's CEO have played an active role in working with SPAN to support its partner sites in Kenya in August of 2007 where plumbing, electrical wiring, and carpentry were donducted for Pistis; in January of 2008 to raise funds to feed and cloth the children of Pistis during the violent skirmishes, and in April and May of 2008 at the Morokoshi school. Read about Kai's adventures, the children of Pisits and Morokoshi, the new projects in motion, and enjoy photos and music of Kenya.

Camp Youth Alive.
In 2004 Terra Soft Solutions has donated 100 t-shirts to "Camp Youth Alive", a summer youth camp promoting life-skills and leadership in Guyana, South America. The campers participated in sports, games, team-building activities, cross-cultural activities and discussed important topics such as HIV/AIDs, puberty, suicide, assertiveness, and drug and alcohol abuse.

David Gelvin, a former Terra Soft Solutions employee, joined the Peace Corps and helped coordinate the annual Camp Youth Alive with funding from the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). We were approached by David to help design a logo and t-shirt which could be used for the camp. We were glad to donate the t-shirts to the children at the camp.

"The t-shirts were absolutely wonderful. We used them as a staff uniform during the camp, then gave each camper one at the end of camp. Thanks again for your support." --David Gelvin

Almost Famous Film Festival
This premier event gives filmmakers in the Phoenix Valley and beyond (with historic teams from Colorado, Texas, and California) the opportunity to use their talents and creativity to produce a movie for a public screening, media coverage, and awards. Filmmaking factions have exactly two days to write, shoot, edit, and submit a finished flick.

Terra Soft Solutions donated the website design, construction, and hosting in addition to annual assistance with the event management and donation of Apple iPods for the winning team awards.

Bringing Resource Stewardship and the Climbing Community Together. Our mission with the Horsetooth Hang is to host a community event that creates positive resource stewardship on the Front Range while bringing together climbers from across the nation and abroad for a day of fun and camaraderie. We seek to maintain a positive relationship between land owners and the climbing community so that our generation, and the generations to follow may enjoy the wonderful resources the Front Range has to offer. The Horsetooth Hang is a non-profit event, and all the proceeds are donated to local and national non-profit organizations that support the environment and climbing community. We also raise money to promote environmental activism and give youth travel opportunities through the Horsetooth Hang Educational Grant.
