Terra Soft is strategically involved with IBM to provide a homogenous OS support for a number of systems built upon the IBM Power architecture. This currently
includes IBM BladeCenter JS21 and Cell QS20, Mercury Cell, and the Sony Computer Entertainment PLAYSTATION®3. As the IBM product line is broad, the
following overview may help you understand the breakdown, and where Terra Soft fits in.
The IBM systems Terra Soft supports fit within the "eServer" brand identity. Within eServer are a number of product lines, two of which are focused on the Power architecture, as follows:
IBM Series p5 - Launched in February 2006, these products replace the "pSeries" and are 100% IBM POWER(TM) based. Terra Soft maintains Yellow Dog Linux for this product line.
IBM Series x - Terra Soft's vertical market applications such as Y-Bio will support IBM's Intel CPU systems running Red Hat or Novell SuSE. Y-HPC v2.0 supports the xSeries running RHL or SuSE.
IBM Series z9 - Mainframes which may run a number of different operating systems and are renowned for their virtualization and management features.
IBM Series i5 - A new identity for the POWER5-based "iSeries" which runs the "i5/OS".
With Yellow Dog Linux you enjoy seamless code migration from your development environment, from an IBM p5 185 tower to BladeCenter JS2xs or from a PS3 to IBM or Mercury Cell target. Enjoy on-board, self-hosting, granting you the most flexible, powerful development and high performance computing environment available.
