Christopher Murtagh, Webmaster/Sysadmin for the Web Communications Group, is an avid Yellow Dog Linux user and proud owner of
a unique Yellow briQ Node cluster.
In his cluster are 4-500 MHz briQs, each connected to an external (outside of the briQ enclosure) ATA 133, 40 GB drives which
offer faster disk I/O than the standard internal 2.25 inch drives. In addition, Chris uses his Palm as a systems
administration tool.

"Thanks to the folks on the #linuxppc IRC channel, I managed to have solved my serial console problem. It turns
out that I was using two things that didn't work 1) a Palm USB/Serial adapter - should be using Keyspan 2) a bad serial cable
- pin-out wasn't good.
[And] mingetty, despite what is stated in its 'man pages' --works fine. Once I had the right baud rate, I could connect with
my Palm Cradle without any problems. Thanks again!" --Chris |
