POWER PC OEMS USE YDL

CPI, Inc.CSPI The 2841 Multicomputer from CSP Inc. utilizes PowerPC Altivec Single Instruction Multiple Data (SIMD) technology combined with Myrinet network technology to provide an open expandable system solution. In a single slot 6U form factor it has four PPC AltiVec processors (7400L), each with 256MB SDRAM, 32MB Flash PROM, and 16 port Myrinet crossbar switch.

The Multicomputer combines a PowerPC for math and network control with a dedicated LANai ASIC processor for simultaneously handling Myrinet traffic.

This is the first complete solution to Multicomputer Network Processing (MNP). This two level solution yields simultaneous 13 GFLOP/sec and 500MB/sec absolute peak operation of 7400L AltiVec velocity engine with the Myrinet crossbar fabric. This also features:
  • ECC RAM
  • POST (built in test)
  • Live insertion and 10 second app off-to-on boot capability.
  • 4x 7400L Altivec PPC's @ 400Mhz 13 GFLOP/sec.
  • LANai ASIC and Myrinet networking, 500MB/sec (duplex).
  • 256MB SDRAM and 32MB Flash EEPROM per processor.
  • 16x Port Myrinet crossbar switch.
  • POST Power-On self-test speeds maintenance.
  • Hot Swap capability for live removal and insertion.
  • Highest processing and bandwidth density in a single 6U VME slot.

Terra Soft worked with CSPI to developed a port of Yellow Dog Linux as an embedded OS for CSPI's high-performance PowerPC boards. Contact CSPI for more information ...
